Blog Post Week 2 Part B

Jonathan Golding Week 2 part B.

Airbnb : www.airbnb.com .  Airbnb is a huge online platform that connects travelers with millions of options worldwide.  It can be a lifesaver for the budget wile traveling especially if you want to avoid the usual 100 dollar per night tourist hotels go for, or you can choose to stay in a mansion and feel rich for the night.

Airbnb has a platform that may connect airbnb user accounts with their facebook account. Their social media icons are tradmarked at the bottom of the page like any "reputable" business nowadays.  Links are heavily used over the last couple of years.   They stay current with advertising on facebook, twitter and instagram.

Twitter: 732.4k followers Facebook: 6,285,211 Instagram blocks figures unless I get account.

They are aggressive with their social media through content to stay current and the vast number of clients who like the company gives you and Idea of the massive social media precence. They are well integrated and offer ways to integrate Airbnb to people social media accounts.

Santa Cruz Skateboards: https://santacruzskateboards.com/  This is an iconic skateboard company located in California with global presence in places were you find skateboarding.  Like most online webpages they feature the icons: Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, and Facebook.

Instagram: holding info facebook: 778,682 Twitter:25.7k 119.k

The brands desings and logos have become somewhat of a cult even without social media. They are very active on their platforms making videos, taking photos, publishing graphic designs.  It is fun to have them around on social media to see their new videos and decks being published.

VANS: https://www.vans.com/  A popular brand heavily marketed towards the youth as well as old riders. They are masters of marketing towards this demographic, just try to go to vans clearance sales or back to school sales to line up, rockstar sales approach.  You can follow them on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Instagram.

Facebook: They are withholding numbers, Twitter: 1.2M Youtube: 577k Instagram: Holding numbers.

Part of the illusion is that these coorporations care for athletes or their public. The coorporation is a cold machine. You may find friends that work in the industry, however the nature of the beast remains: Sales and profit. They heavily engage with the public through social media marketing and public relation stunts. I use the brand because I can get the best deals living in southern california I can find places.  We are good free publicity.

CLub MED: https://www.clubmed.us/  The first all inclusive I can remember.  A novel idea: rooms without televisions full of outdoor activities.  This concept proved to be here to stay. This chain of resorts has many all over the world, they closed down is some areas.  You can find them on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and Pinterest.

Facebook: 2,243,208 Twitter: 10.5k YouTube: 18.7k Instagram: Holding numbers Pinterest: 1078

These companies try to stay current on their Social Media Marketing.  You will not see new media without being posted for a year except for Youtube as they have not published in 3 years there.  They seem to have the most liking on Facebook.

Swiss Airlines: https://www.swiss.com/ International airliner. Known for the good food on deck, this is one of the prestigious companies that one may think of when considering classy traveling.  It has global presence. At the bottom of the page you see the standard block of logos:  Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube.

Facebook: 1,302,367 Twitter: 276.6K LinkedIn: Instagram: Holds numbers  YouTube: 61.4k subsbribers.

It is interesting to see that like club med they are current with Facebook but have not published a YouTube in 3 years. Most likely the ROAS (return on ad spend) is more profitable on Facebook than YouTube for these big "status quo" companies.  Companies like VANS or Santa Cruz really need to stay current with YouTube as to that being one of the platforms where competition is showcased (teams going as hard as they can is sports through those media outlets).

  1. Your blog was very interesting and eye opening to read. The business's that I did research on were small local ones and I saw that they struggled much like myself to get followers but they seem to interact on a more personable level than a huge company like one of these. The big companies seem to stay current and post all the time and that is huge for them. Great job on your research.
