Week 16: Social Media Management Tools

Jon Golding Well since the main objective is to manage multiple platforms with one account I will focus on the sites that seem to be the best for that.   Rated best overall is Sprout Social, You can start a free trial for any of their modalities, but most likely the intro will not be enough so you will have to purchase the memberships: Standard at $99, professional at $149, advanced at $249.   Standard offers: 5 social profiles professional 10 profiles, advanced $249.     Each upgrade features a list of upgrades like:  competitive reports for Instagram, Facebook and Twitter Incoming and outgoing message content tagging Custom workflows for multiple approves and steps Scheduling for optimal send times Response rate and time analysis reports.   I am wondering if this is really so effective in multiplying your capabilities on social media or is it a sales pitch?   The first step would be to master one account then move into ...

Week 15 Part B: Building Out Your Strategy

Jon Golding:  The plan is simple:  Gain yoga friends online and grow an audience on Facebook..  Then invite them to to like the yoga page where a weekly wellness post on yoga benefits will be shared (could be a healthy recipe as well or an athlete who uses yoga to compliment). 1nce a week share and invitation to the online gear store Publish new clothes once a month.  It is important to gain "real friends" who will be a good audience, since I need to raise score above a 2 for Facebook ads. The efforts for the first 6 months to a year shall be focused solely on growing the audience, through Facebook friends and invites to like the yoga page.  The yoga brand page will eventually feature a free yoga flow for the month.

Week 15 Part A: Developing Your Marketing Strategy

Jon Golding  For a yoga gear brand I think that linking up with yoga influencers on YouTube can be critical. Instagram and Facebook integrate well since you can remote control one platform from the other (posting content on Instagram/Facebook at the same time).  I found LinkedIn yoga groups to be a possible audience. Finding a yoga influencer for the right price could be tricky, I could very well pay 10 g for a one day add and get no sales from it.  The main efforts shall be concentrated in creating a fan-base and audience with a YouTube/Facebook/Instagram combo. At first organic SEO will be implemented with the use of proper wording to be placed in a google search.  Eventually perhaps a campaign will be launched via Google ads using the tools within google outlined in the paper before this one.      Have been enjoying using Facebook/Instagram integration.   It was difficult to transmit a whole lot of enthusiasm for a theoretical page, on top...

Week 14 Part B: What we Learn from FaceBook Analytics

Jon Golding  Well I had problems with Facebook ads and my page in general.  I don't know how we are going to get the 28 likes I've noticed people are weeks behind in their blogs.   Not likely I have 100 page views.  Also a marketing tip I got: do not include people out of your niche in your biz pages.    So I have to use the Aztec Brewery:   Its sad to see the impact on the economy (witch I consider a destruction by design, when I started studying marketing and the "need" to be targeted, I had a hunch something like this could happen). I think the main problems to be addressed is the demographic explosion going on in the globe, as well as hygiene.  Then you run into  places like Japan going through a birth crisis where the country does not know what to do to keep the machine going since population is being drastically decreased.  What is humanity going to do?   I was looking at the post engagements (I would like to s...

Week 14 Part A: What we Learn from Google Analytics

Jon Golding Google Analytics is an amazing tool if it renders the results promised.   There are organic SEO strategies on youtube that allow you to find better placement in google searches without spending money.  However it would not be a bad idea to invest in a strategy.    The first thing that drew my attention was the Mumzworld feature: it promises a 300% return on ad spend (ROAS).  So if you spend 100 bucks you should get a 300 dollar return on sales from those ads.  As the page states: "Mumzworld used Analytics to gain insight into their return on advertising investment and make sense of their retail data to improve product availability. The result was a 300% return on ad spend."  As the lecture states things to look out for in my biz page would be:   1. Page views 2. Engagement 3. Conversations  I can further expand these into google analytics "reporting":  I will be looking for things like behavior reports, a...

FACEBOOK WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO DO ADDS,

Image
I guess I need more support for my "followers".  But I think it is because they have to have your Id for ad campaigns. My rating needs to be above a 2.  Since Facebook is linking with Instagram on this Instagram wont work either.  But here is what I tried to see if I could setup to publish:

Week 13 Part A: Online Advertising - Analysis of the Marketplace

Jon Golding  Well for example its interesting but on Facebook I get sponsored posts by red bull about para-glide skiing , big wave surfing, etc.  I do not really consume red bull because it gives you cramps and shakes.  Last time I gave myself the shakes with coffee I got injured dislocated shoulder and ended up in hospital, so I do not practice sports with caffeine anymore.  These posts do not have call to action but they are promoting an energy drink.  The imagery is effective because it features professional photography with extreme athletes.  I got an invitation to a private party on my email I wonder how they got my email.  I was tempted to go but I was out of town, also a bit pricey at 40 bucks a ticket.  The ads that are annoying are the ones in the middle of somebodies post. For example an athlete can post a video about themselves and there might be and add for classes on stock trading. I am not such a big consumer so anything that is call...

Week 12 Part B: Business Specific Tools

Jonathan Golding 1.  I found linked in groups that could help, they are yoga groups and yoga instructors, the yoga alliance is featured (the institution that certifies instructors).  I kind of see why yoga can be seen as generic with things like the yoga alliance page.  In reality you can practice yoga get really good at it and teach (yogis in India do not have yoga alliance certifications), however a lot of corporate schools or settings will want to know how many hours you trained to instruct, and will ask for a specific flow of poses at interviews etc.  I would have to experiment with a LinkedIn biz page to see what I can do with it before I share.   2. I have dabbled in music sites before, I had to put that career path to the side because of acoustic trauma.  Getting those songs to play takes marketing.  Music marketing is not easy, also it is no longer a strategy to sell music online, since lately musicians depend on the sites for a bit ...

Week 12 Part A: Business Specific Online Tools

Jon Golding  There are many tools to use with an online biz.  The main problem is figuring out if they are correct for the business in practice.  What is the business up to, what is the sales funnel like? Countries with target markets?  There are many compounding factors.    For this business Google my business, or google maps is not so applicable since the business is an online store and it is not going to have a brick and mortar retail store.  LinkedIn works more for something like recruiting or getting involved with formal settings (looking for a lawyer, or hiring a secretary), this group of people is highly stressed and needs yoga though, and there is a lot of yoga groups on LinkedIn, if I created a page it would be to target that audience, with ads of yoga products, I would try to figure out a way to post without paying for the ads as well to see how that works. The strategy has to be fine tuned since the platform is complex.  Yelp...

Week 11: Marketing with Twitter, LinkedIn, Social Influencers

Jon Golding    I might be wrong but twitter sort of has the feel of myspace in decline.  I have been studying other tutorials on marketing and they rarely use twitter to market.  Most of the fuss in marketing tutorials are about how to place yourself in google searches, using influencers or youtube channels, and facebook ads among other methods like posting on multiple sales platforms without having an audience.  Not only that there is a whole lot of politics and issues within twitter I would rather avoid it altogether.    I have a LinkedIn account yet it is irrelevant to the Niyama Gear brand. I could use it to recruit however at the time I am not hiring.  It is useful for professions like investment bankers, people that work in office environments., or other formal matters.  Usually the crowd in LinkedIn is lost in procedures that are totally off from my process.  I guess perhaps I could use it to contact DEF JAM records however I...

Week 10 Part A: Researching Email Marketing

Jon Golding  Well in the world of marketing, I feel like we are bombarded with all sorts of marketing everyday to the point it gets really annoying.  Peoples inboxes are full of junk to the point it actually makes finding personal emails difficult.   Although they can give you a sense of "belonging"  to a niche, I personally do not feel they would be very effective for yoga clothing buyers.    Not sending a news letter for my products.  Did Supreme clothing use emails to hype up their brand? Not really:   "Another odd detail about Supreme is the low sending frequency of their emails. At best, you'll get an email once a week when products drop, but if you didn't elect to receive drop alerts emails are few and far between." *1 .  I find little sense dropping a whole newsletter about a new logo or design.    The only thing I would assimilate from the email marketing would be an online yoga class (in the...

Week 9 Part B: Using Categories

Image
I would incorporate categories that have to do with yoga.  It is a science so there is a lot of places were you can find yoga.  It is interesting when you see professional athletes using it as a compliment, or people healing from injuries, even mental illness.  So there are a lot of places that can give the blog/vlog/podcast or webinars, some variations.   I would also incorporate things like diet and health advice. The overall goal for the audience is to feel they are gaining some overall health from the experience.  Art is a good thing to incorporate as well. The idea is to paint a lifestyle geared towards wellness. There is a lot of distress going on so there is a huge need for healing.  Can interview musicians who practice yoga etc.         Had already commented but I commented again on :      1 Flaherty_Natasha Manley's Dragons And Exotics Pet Breeder INSTAGRAM 3 England_Daniel BLOG Cross Rocket Marketing* FACEBO...

Week 9 Part A: Blogs, Vlogs, Podcasts & Webinars

Jon Golding   It makes sense to add personal touch for example to a pasta sauce brand, like for example: the legend of the pasta dinners at home by the incredible Mother of a cook. I worked at a Mexican restaurant in New York and the story was that the maid of a wealthy New Yorker cooked so good her boss invested in her with a restaurant.  (Really a fable since it was owned by Chinese who had Mexicans working).    However there are more credible accounts for example GT kombucha has the story that the stuff was brewed at home for a mother with cancer, she ultimately recovered and much of the success was attributed to the kombucha.  (I personally think this is why the stuff sells, since even the owner and CEO makes fun of his funky tasting kombucha that will make you feel great).    You might want to keep personal ouch out of car commercials or a machining supply warehouse ad.  People are only interested in tech specifications...

Week 8 Part A: How to Expand Your Reach on Instagram by Using Hashtags

Jon Golding    a) https://www.instagram.com/yogaclothing/      b) https://www.instagram.com/yoga.clothing/    c) https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/yogaclothing/    d)  https://www.instagram.com/bb_yoga_clothing/ a) Instagram seems to be effective for them.  They have a lot of visually engaging posts with models using the yoga clothing, pics of phrases mostly photographic posts. For the most part the photography looks proffecional, although a bit pixelated.  They use the hashtags: #happysunday #yoga,  #brandnew #yoga #inspiredyogis #mondaymontra,  @jalaclothing #yoga #yogaclothing, #yoga #yogaclothing #pose, etc. Every pic has hashtags. 912 followers. They were posting about once a week until 2014 when they stopped.  They get the most response out of yoga poses.  They get about 25 likes max per post with 912 followers. No comments just likes in posts.  They have good use of photography an...

Week 7 Part A: Get Visual with Instagram - Let a Picture Tell the Story

Jon Golding: Since Joy, Awe, Amusement and Laughter are the most shared articles on the net I used short posts to produce such feelings.  I will look into issues with publishing content like 3rd party health articles or yoga articles on a brands page.   https://www.instagram.com/niyama.42/

Week 6 Part A: Engaging Your Customers - FaceBook Strategy

Jon Golding  Week 6 Part A: Engaging Your Customers - FaceBook Strategy 1) https://www.facebook.com/GTsLivingFoods 2) https://www.facebook.com/rawliciousmoothies 3) https://www.facebook.com/WeLiveOrganic 4) https://www.facebook.com/GuarapoJuiceBar 5) https://www.facebook.com/internationalyogadayusa 6) https://www.facebook.com/ewelinahaniewiczyogateacher 7) https://www.facebook.com/bodhisurfyoga I chose these organisations because they all have one thing in mind: wellness.  There are different approaches to wellness one is diet, the other is activity.  Yoga is a great stress reliever, a good compliment to sports and injury avoidance, physical therapy, spine alignment etc.  The idea behind the Niyama clothing brand is to build a network with wellness on the net. The network is to have international reach and traveling tips connecting people with traveling to a surf yoga retreat in Morocco for example (bodhisurfyoga).  Even though a temple was used for the first ph...
